Community rules
Anonymous for the poster. Never anonymous for the target.
Anonymity is what makes a campus feed honest, and it's also what makes most of them awful. These are the rules that keep the first without the second. They apply to every post, poll, notice and Hush message on Campus Scenes.
1. No post may target an identifiable person
This is the rule everything else exists to enforce. Memes about the dining hall, the wifi, the shuttle, the syllabus tracker - fine. Memes about a named classmate, a described classmate, or a person everyone will recognise from the details - never.
"Identifiable" is judged by whether people on your campus could work out who it is, not by whether you used a name. Room numbers, sections, timetables and physical descriptions all count.
2. No harassment, hate, or pile-ons
Slurs, threats, sexual harassment, and abuse aimed at a person or a group based on who they are get the post removed and the account banned. Bans are tied to the university email, so a new account doesn't get anyone back in.
3. No sexual content involving anyone who didn't consent
Never post someone's images, private messages, or sexual details. Non-consensual intimate imagery is reported to the university and, where it applies, to law enforcement.
4. No doxxing
Phone numbers, addresses, room numbers, timetables, socials, and anything else that lets a stranger find a specific person offline. This includes "does anyone know who…" posts.
5. Don't use the feed for danger
No encouraging self-harm, no organising fights, no selling drugs or weapons, no scams. If you or someone else is in danger, contact your campus emergency line and local services - Campus Scenes is not a crisis service and nobody is monitoring it in real time.
6. One campus, one account
Your university email proves you belong to your campus. Don't share it, don't sell access, and don't run alt accounts to dodge a ban or stack votes.
What happens when something breaks the rules
- Report it. Every post has report and hide, two taps deep.
- A person reviews it. Reports go to a moderation queue that a human works through - hours, not days.
- Removal. Posts that break these rules come down. Repeat or severe breaks end the account.
- Bans follow the email. Not the device, not the handle.
Why there are no comment sections
Because the dogpile needs a thread to live in. Campus Scenes has reactions and no reply box on purpose - the harshest thing anyone can do to your post is scroll past it. This is a permanent design decision, not a feature we haven't built yet.
Hush has one extra rule
A confession is one sealed message. It reveals only when both people sent one. Never screenshot, forward, or repost anything from inside Hush - doing so ends Hush access permanently and, depending on what was shared, the Campus Scenes account with it.
These rules get updated as the app grows. Material changes are announced in-app before they take effect.
