Child safety standards
Last updated 23 August 2026. This page is Campus Scenes' published standard against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), as required for apps in the social category. It is permanent, public, and not editable from within the app.
Campus Scenes is restricted to university students aged 18 and over. Creating an account requires a verified university email address; there is no path to an account without one. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to hold an account, and we act immediately to remove one if we learn otherwise.
Child sexual abuse and exploitation is never permitted on Campus Scenes, in any form: no imagery, no text, no solicitation, no sexualisation of a minor or of a person depicted as a minor, and no use of the app to facilitate any of this elsewhere. This applies across every surface of the app - posts, comments, housing listings, lost and found items, and messages - with no exception.
Images. Every photo uploaded to Campus Scenes is scanned automatically by Google Cloud Vision's SafeSearch before it becomes visible to anyone. Content flagged as adult or violent is deleted from storage and stripped from the post immediately, without waiting for a report.
Text. Posts and messages are checked before they are stored. Content sexualising a minor, or reading as a threat, is blocked outright at submission and never reaches another student.
Every post, reply, housing listing, lost and found item, and message carries a report action, reachable in a single tap. Reports reach a campus moderation team and are reviewed against these standards. A report involving suspected CSAE is treated as the highest priority we handle: the content is removed on confirmation, and the account responsible is permanently banned. We do not warn first.
Where we identify or are made aware of apparent CSAE, we remove the content and account, preserve what is legally required for a law enforcement referral, and report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or relevant law enforcement as required by applicable law. We cooperate with lawful requests from authorities investigating child exploitation.
Inside the app: tap the report flag on any post, listing, item, or message, or use You → Safety and support. Outside the app, or for anything urgent: email safety@campusscenes.com. This address is monitored by a human and reports involving a minor are treated as priority. If a child is in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement first.
